Chocolate Chip Cookies

This is a modified version of the Tollhouse cookie recipe.

1 cup butter (softened)
1 cup butter flavored shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 teaspoons of vanilla
4 eggs
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon of salt
4 1/2 cups of flour
1 24 ounce bag of chocolate chips.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

First, add the butter and shortening to your mixer and cream together:

Add the sugar and continue to mix:

Then add the brown sugar and mix well:

Next, add the vanilla (I am usually very liberal with the vanilla:

Next, scrape down the sides of the bowl:

Then add the eggs, one at a time, and mix until fluffy:

Then add the baking soda and the salt:

Next, add the flour. I have a 1 1/2 cup measure cup, so I do three of these, mixing well between each addition:

Next, scrape down the sides of the bowl again:

Now add the chocolate chips:

Now scrape down the sides of the bowl one last time, allowing even more mixture of the chocolate chips:

Now the dough is ready to be scooped onto your parchment lined cookie sheets:

Bake for 11 minutes and then remove from oven, and scoop onto a cooling rack:

Pour a nice big glass of milk, and enjoy!!

This recipe yields approximately 7 dozen cookies.

I literally just went out and bought a mixer and ingredients this afternoon and am making these cookies in ten minutes. I haven't been so excited about cookie-making in so long! (Also I'm friending you :) thank you!!!)

I just wanted to update you and let you know that everyone at my office *loved* the cookies. I can't thank you enough for the recipe! I want to make them again, but know that I would eat way too many and make myself sick...

:D I love baking, but haven't done it in a while. I just made a batch of the peanut butter cookies (they're delicious, by the way) and I am eagerly awaiting the first batch of chocolate chip cookies fresh out of the oven. :D

I adore baking and your recipes and pictures are gorgeous.

I love your kitchenaid! My family has the slightly larger model. My father has owned it since long before I was born. I'm about to leave home and I keep threatening to steal it...

These were great! They came out extra gooey for me because of the kind of chocolate I used, but that's all good! I love the one-bowl approach, too ;-)

Wow I love your journal so much! The pictures of the cookies were stimulated my gastric juice to secrete because I am so craving for Chocolate Chip Cookies. Now, I have something more to add to my list-of-things-to-do-after-my-exams! Thanks <3
